Unfortunately, I can't recommend Danielle as a therapist. I understand from social media posts that the practice is going through some changes, but I have serious concerns about how she treats new clients. Here's what happened: I tried twice to set up sessions with Danielle only to have her bail both times. The first time, we had a phone conversation and she agreed to work with me. I filled out all the paperwork to get started (lots of in-depth therapy questions) and then didn't hear from her. A week later, I received a "termination of services" email saying that she was closing the practice and she wouldn't be offering referrals. This email was jarring: we never had a session, and only days before she was agreeing to take me on as a client, so I was surprised and disappointed. Hopefully, longer term clients got better treatment.
A few weeks later, I had put my search on hold. I got an email from Danielle saying sorry she hadn't been in touch (what about the termination email) and asking if I was still seeking a therapist. I was, and had already gotten set up with her, so I figured, why not? She let me know her availability and I picked a time within that availability to talk. I never heard back from her to confirm the appointment (were we doing a phone call? video conference? was this a full session or another intake call?). At the selected time, I signed off work and waited for her call, but she ghosted. No call, no email, nothing. I sent another email and left a voicemail afterwards asking what had happened, but I never heard back.
Danielle's disregard for my time and effort feels generally unacceptable for anyone in the caring professions, but especially for a therapist—trust and reliability are so important in this work. While I don’t recommend Danielle, I want to end by saying: if you’re struggling, help is out there. Keep going, I believe in you!
